DIY Gift: Limoncello Liqueur

Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy, especially in the region around the Gulf of Naples, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the coast of Amalfi, and islands of Procida, Ischia, and Capri.

Limoncello is traditionally served chilled as an after-dinner digestive, but taste pretty darn good as an after-dinner shot; especially when it is chilled. Along the Amalfi Coast, it is usually served in small ceramic glasses that are also chilled in the freezer. Delish.

Limoncello is also used to make various cocktails, pastry or ice cream; but also makes a great low-cost gift when you make it in batches by yourself. Remember to drink responsibly, and try not to sample too much when you are making this.

You'll need:

  • fresh lemons

  • high proof vodka (we like Kettle One)

  • filtered water

  • sugar

  • sanitized bottle(s)
